Barbon Hillclimb

Post by GraemeC »

The entry list has now closed for the 11th June Barbon Hillclimb with just over 70 entries, but there's still loads of space for the 16th July Hillclimb.

The British Championship is NOT with us in July, so if you've been put off taking part in the past because you think you'll get fewer runs up the hill, this event could be ideal for you.

Have you entered yet?
We only have 44 entries for July. We need 82 to break even.
It's serious, where is everyone?

Clubs can't keep running events unless they can cover the cost of staging them, and we haven't invested so much time, energy and money into improving Barbon over the past few years to lose it now. All surplus from the events is put back into maintaining the track, paddock, safety etc for future motorsport.

PLEASE! Tell your friends, tell your enemies, tell every competitor you meet that we need them to enter the Barbon Hillclimb in July.

Whats the entry criteria? I'm local and have a mostly finished car... Cages / Seats? I have stock seats, harnesses and an Aley cage - basically a death trap ;-0
I've got a 69 Mini with a 1046, Cooper Head and a four on the floor.

Its been a close call, but the July Barbon Hillclimb will be going ahead despite entries currently being down on what we really need.

Entries are open up to midnight 5th July - still loads of room left!

At the June event we were blessed with great weather and a relatively little lost time on the hill. This gave the competitors 2x practice and 3x competitive runs (we nearly got a 4th run in but decided to give the stalwart marshals an early dart after a hot day). The aim will be to get the same number of runs in July.

Hi Graeme
Is it possible to park a motorhome onsite from Thursday evening?
Long trek up from Somerset ;)

Camping is available on-site from 5 pm on Friday evening only. The farmer normally makes a charge of around £10. There are no hook-up or mains water facilities on-site for campers but portable toilets will be available. Nearby is the Barbon Inn serving excellent food and drink, and also within the village is the wonderful Churchmouse at Barbon, a village store, cafe and delicatessen all rolled into one.

Hi Trevor - its not I'm afraid - the farmer still has livestock on there up to Friday lunchtime (we have be known to be setting up at the same time as the sheepdogs doing their thing!).
There is a large layby just outside the village and I *think* overnight camping is allowed down at the Devil's Bridge layby near Kirkby Lonsdale. Otherwise plenty of local campsites and some of the pubs may let you set up in their carparks if you have a meal with them.

Ok thanks for the reply
Plan B then... with motorhome and Car on trailer laybyes are probably not an option.
I'll try local pubs.
If succesful I will enter.
