Poor old Bill Sollis went on from Prescott to Mallory on the Sunday
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7g6heKX84UE
The first time I went to Mallory 2001 I found myself coming out of Gerards(the long corner) and I was doing 80-odd and another car was barrel rolling alongside at 70
2005 and I had the biggest accident in my career
2014 and I appear in front of the camera car for a bit and was lucky to avoid the flying Andy Harrison
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSiWGteN4rM
You can guess how I feel about going to Mallory
However it did flag up an Owen Grenwood clip of him there
Better bit here:

Re: Mini Fest at Prescott on 14th May 2022
As much as I’d like to race I think I’ll stick to hillclimbs and sprints, if I loose the car due to my lack of talent, well, that’s my fault, if it’s down to mixing with someone else I think I’d feel differently about it.
The only way I’d consider it now is if I had the funds to build a ‘new’ MK1 (rather than use an original) and be able to afford to write it off if the worst happened

Re: Mini Fest at Prescott on 14th May 2022
Having had a dabble at Racing a Mini, I decided I couldn't justify it on many different levels.
The straight forward expense was a good part of it, but not the main reason I gave up after barely one season. The main reason was the call it made on my time. Boring nights driving home alone after a weekends racing, getting home at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning when I need to be up for work at 6.20, the endless faffing about with the car, even when it was working you were taking things to bits to check & putting them back together, the inevitable damage & mechanical failure just added to the misery. I was doing this at the same time as having a young family & for once in my life I decided that the family needed to come first. I haven't regretted that decision for a second.
Now, nearly 20 years on. Adam is racing his Austin 7 special with the VSCC, we work on the car together, go to meetings together & can share the driving of the truck when we need to. I absolutely love it.
As with most things in life, timing is everything.

Re: Mini Fest at Prescott on 14th May 2022
Prescott have their first ‘Historique’ event on Saturday so I’ve grabbed a late entry. Didn’t intend to compete for a bit but might be my only chance to go there this year. I’ll report back!
