I’d rather it was seen at big Mini events in its ‘as finished’ state Roger.

Driving it any distance will only start to spoilt it in the engine bay and underneath.

Will save enjoying it for 2023

Having said that it is being driven to a local show tomorrow if the weather is as it is supposed to be.

Found somewhere to stay now that can accommodate the truck.

Thanks Roger :)

It’s a problem with restoring cars to a high standard … what to do with them. They’re meant for driving of course but …

I’ll get over it …

So, on the back of the previous post, I drove HOY to a local show today .. another 45 or so miles.

Came 2nd in show, up amongst some beautiful cars of all different makes and models. The usual high amount of interest that we all get with our Coopers and S's.

Really does drive nicely - hydro suspension so much more civilised.

Next outing is Beaulieu.

It's not that long ago i drove a low mileage 850 on hydro, lovely ride , very comfortable, for a Mini. I think the folk who slag hydro off, 997 engines etc are the ones who have read something somewhere and and never experienced a 'good un'.

Some folks may have noticed that we had a matching pair of cars at Blyton this year.

One of which received "Best Car In Show" and the other that received nothing. No doubt some folks thought this was grossly unfair. Well, now I can reveal that Pete & I thought it was too. The truth was that I never thought of ordering two "Best In Show" trophies.

I am now pleased to report that this trophy is winging it's way to Andy as I write this.

Two trophies for TWO very deserving winners.

Congratulations from "The Committee".

That’s brilliant …. Thank you Mark and Pete. :D

Really appreciate that and it’s nice to have the car recognised along with Peters DPY.

Will take pride of place with the 2nd in show it got last week at a local event (and I drove it there) !!

It won’t be a trailer queen for long, maybe just to Beaulieu next month.

It drives very nice.

Suspension is superb (for a comfortable ride).

This is one lucky car in that it will probably be the only car to have been rescued from the clutches of its previous owner.

Parked up next to DPY 160C aka the Bangers and Cash ‘sister car to HOY … also making its debut at a classic show. Was really nice to meet its owner Peter and have a good chat about the cars and their paths to survival.

They certainly both had a lot of people looking and kept us both busy.
Life has had me away from this forum for too long, great to see these two wonderful projects now complete. The B&C car helped me to see the earlier style oil cooler as it was caught a few times as they moved the car around on a pallet. Great credit to such dedicated owners...

Just wanted to say that HOY looked stunning in person, I only managed to get this photo of the car as it was deservedly getting a lot of attention from a big crowd!

A piece of HOY's former life lives on - Andrew kindly let me have the old dash at the weekend and I've already started cleaning it up and stripping it for refurbishment, a trial fit in my Mk2 Cooper shows it will sit inside nicely once it's been fully sorted out (strangely, it's a much tighter fit in my Mk2 S)...
