I guess at worst it’s a circa £20k modified 998 or at best it transpires it is an S and is worth what £30-35k ??

Real odd one, has S control box position, front panel stiffener, servo, speedo, taller brake cylinder, inside rh tank brackets……Almost like someone’s rung an S onto a 998 Cooper book…?!

Could well be, Pete. Someone might get a nice surprise if they buy it and get into Gaydon.
Thinking about it I had a similar car years back. Bought a Mk2 998 basket case with S motor, S disks, 130 speedo etc. The more I got into it was clearly an S someone had robbed the book off and paired it up with a normal Cooper book.

Odd to rob the book off and leave all the S bits though? Contrarily a mate of mine bought a 998 Cooper in the 90s that came back on the certificate as a 1275 S! BMIHT definitely do make mistakes aswell. That certainly does look like an S doesn’t it?

Bloke I bought it off was anything for a quick buck. Strangely later on he 'knew a bloke' with an S book, same colour scheme as my project, but he wanted big money for it......

About as rough as 'HOY' was perhaps, but you've already done your bit for the war effort mateAndrew1967 wrote: ↑Tue May 10, 2022 8:07 pm She's a bit rough Nidge ... been there and done that .. if it was local though ...
Really odd the Heritage .. I'd have thought that 50 *** engine number is a 1275S number, certainly not 998. BMIHT or factory record mistake ??
I hope someone bags it and does it justice though, it looks typical of the way Mk2s used to in the '70s, long after depreciation even mattered.

Buy it, bung in the barn for another forty years and see who takes the bait
I don't look at the Mini for sale ads as much as I used to but it's nice to know that cars like this one are still out there.

Bare 1980s shell, looks quite solid, could be useful race shell...

It's a nice story and it'll be a fun little car for somebody. Maybe just a story though? I wonder if there is any real evidence of a Monte entry? Also, I recall owning a WRX registration and that car was certainly registered in 1961 so I'm slightly doubtful that the registration WRX 452 was a 1960 issue.
Definitely some research would be needed before handing over that sum of money

I imagine he put it in their for the same reason that I said pretty much the same in my advert for the Speedwell Car.
I don't need to sell it, but am choosing to do so. It implies that I am not desperate to raise the money & won't accept a daft offer from some pillock who turns up waiving cash under my nose thinking he's Mike Brewer.
Pretty simple really.
