I’m no expert but I’m not sure that dealer knows what he’s talking about! One thing I do hate is the indicator repeaters stuck on the front wings….

That GT replica with powder blue brocade interior was kicking around a few months back, think it was at one of the auction houses. It's certainly a bit of an odd mix....

Indeed - its a bit of a mash-up. And where are the chassis and commission number plates ?

'Correct to the last detail under the bonnet in line with the original GT Clubman' ...er... except it isn't....

'the blue interior ... is believed to have been fitted from an earlier Mini but shows little signs of wear' ... presumably because it was a Newton Commercial special order...

There is nothing correct about that car, not under the bonnet, inside the interior or outside on the body.

Regarding the chassis number I think that is the correct type of plate on the left inner wing for that age of car. It would be interesting to know what the actual number is as that could have been built from anything.

For those into models there is news from Cult Scale Models, who produce 1/18th scale. They are to release a 1275GT, initially available in Blaze and Bronze Yellow.

Looking at the pictures one hopes that these are production samples as there are some very poor details such as the grille, the seven flute sills, the incorrectly fitted rear lights and the overly long exhaust pipe. Cult will probably issue different colours in the future.

They can be pre-ordered at Grand Prix Models

From the new old stock examples I've seen the colour varied... This is a photo of the one off my car that was the spare (and therefore never repainted). Interestingly the back of it is still factory primer - so only the front and sides were ever painted

What would be the original diff ratio for a rod change GT box ?

Did it change by wheel size ?

Hi Simon

From the info I have, as standard

GT 1128 remote = 3.65

GT 1832 Rod = 3.44

Re: 1275 GT thread

Post by surfblue63 »

3.65:1 was used on commission numbers S20D 101 to 5759.

3.44:1 was used on commission numbers S20D 5760 to 14921.

Receipt_2022-05-05_101955.jpg

Not all remotes are were 3.65:1, but all rod boxes were 3.44:1.

Also it did not change with the wheel size as that did not change until commission number S20D 19416A
