850cc
Monte Carlo Rally January 60. Gp2. Riley/Jones
Geneva Rally April 60. Morley/Morley
Acropolis Rally May 60. Sutcliffe/Astle
Sold to M. Sutcliffe.
Mike Sutcliffe won the very first rally of the now legendary Motoring News Championship, the Yorkshire Rally 10/11 Feb 1961. Entry paperwork could not be found by Peter Robinson when researching the final volume of “Memory Lanes”, so it is unconfirmed that 618AOG won the event.(now confirmed).
Sutcliffe in 618AOG is listed as entered on the MN Jeans Gold Cup Rally 2/3 Sept 61.
References to Mike Sutcliffe in a Mini (or Austin 7), not specifically confirming it was 618AOG (although it probably was for all the early events at least), on MN Championship rounds are:
Sunday Mercury Rally 17/18 Jun 61
Plymouth Rally 24/25 Jun 61
Bolton Rally 19/20 Aug 61
London Rally 22/23 Sept 61
Welsh Rally 5/6 Jan 62
Yorkshire Rally 9/10 Feb 62 (Now confirmed to have been 618AOG)
Express and Star Rally 17/18 Mar 62
Express and Star Rally 16/17 Mar 63
