Brands Hatch will be celebrating all things 'Mini' when it hosts a major new event in the form of the Brands Hatch Mini Festival on 16-17 June.

With a history spanning more than 50 years, the Mini in its former and current guise is one of the most iconic cars of all time and the famous Kent circuit plans to commemorate the marque with a unique event in the summer. A superb line up of Mini-based motorsport is set to entertain spectators while Mini owners from across the country will be invited to showcase their cars around the 1.2 mile Indy circuit. There will be various off track activities with a display of special motorsport Minis old and new, a Mini stunt show, trade village, parades, live music and festival fun for motor racing fans throughout the weekend.

I'll be at Bristol Mini Day.

Stupid that all of these shows are clashing this year (E.g. Himley and Riv Run) because of the Queens Jubilee.

Not sure I'll get a run as it's very oversubscribed already

Maybe the mixed race would be fun in any case. Nothing to do with Swifty so it's just keep eyes open when entries open

Pic is actually of me from last year coasting from the approach to Clearways with the engine switched off and about to enter the pits. The piston has just been holed ; hence the nice "misty" background . Glad it's not bigger pic: would show a bit of a :( face

It looks like 20+ cars are coming across Le Manche - with priority given for those taking aprt in the other part of what appears to be a double header at Pau. A grid of 38 at Pau is pretty much full with at least 10 British entries. The max grid at Brands is 32 meaning as you say Tim thats pretty much sold out.

Therefore it looks like a 40 minute endurance race is on the cards for the Sunday as well, this will have a 20 minute Qualifying on Saturday. Swifty is looking for feedback to gauge interest in this idea amongst the Mini racing fraternity, so pick up the phone and let him know what you would like to do and if you are interested. This will include as many of the other Mini's still standing !!!

Could you get 50 FIA Mini's in one place at once - that would be a first !!! :D

Tryed to contact alex, but untill now no response to bad. like to come with clubstand. Looks I will bring some historic rallycrosser drivers to Brands : Graham Strugnell and Fred Kalkhuis. Both raced mini's in Avro's rallycross. Graham was BL driver also with the Innocentie cup.

And with some luck Tina Cooper will come as well se7en champ 1996.

YIKES!!

Just another confirmation (for me) that street-races can be very expensive - even if it's not your fault... no run of and no space to escape the carnage.

Anyone better at translating than google translate ???

http://www.larepubliquedespyrenees.fr/2 ... 234509.php

Jonathan Hartop Why did he leave its trajectory starting yesterday, shortly after noon? His red Mini caused a pileup on the floor leaving François and Philippe Lalanne Tillos, after a few hundred meters away! "The clash was inevitable, testifies Tillos. His car is back in the middle of the track. The weekend is over, "leaving his brother, Jacky, the stands when he should play the second race yesterday afternoon. A fact all the more regrettable that the two brothers had shown their competitive trials, signing the 10th fastest time. "I am frankly disappointed and angry," added Lalanne, typed unable to do anything either. And if both Pau remained on the floor, their Mini damn spoiled, Hartop, him, was on the podium for the second race ...

It was the first accident. The second was more serious. The departure revived, and after only four laps, a new arrangement involved six Mini before the turn of the station. it was beating strong, very strong at the pit exit. Désincarcéré by the emergency services of the Grand Prix, in conjunction with the ambulance, the driver of François Haldat was taken to hospital in Pau. Kept under observation until today, he suffered a fractured transverse processes and ribs broken.

The first race ended there. The second, yesterday at the very end of Great Price, Philip Quirière did not get on the podium. Fourth, a race won by favorite Nick Swift, he did not confirm his strong second place gained in the trials. Thierry Coy has not participated in the second inning.

Just having looked up transverse processes fracture - Severe OUCH !!!
