64 Morris pickup recommissioning

Post by Hippo »

If we get this recommissioning right it hopefully won’t look much different to how it looks today.

It’s been resting since it was last used around 2006.

What a VERY lovely thing.

So pleased to hear that it's not getting spammed up.

100%. A survivor that can be revived rather than restored, good find.

Fantastic find and I’m sure it will clean up very nicely.

Wonderful 8-) A real rarity now. Should have a preservation order slapped on it :)

Maybe the RAC should introduce a listed car status for certain vehicles, and anyone caught damaging a listed car show have to give all their assets to charity.

PS The pick-up looks ready to go.

We will try and breathe some life back into it in the next few days. Worry about making it stop later

It cranks and sparks and coughed a little bit last night but nothing moves as freely as it should.
So time for a dip in the ultrasonic bath.

With just the rebuilt carb it spluttered into life without a hint of Easy start,

Running a little rough as it’s still using the old points cleaned up through the service hole in the grille.
I'd be interested if anyones got a grille cut I can repair this with

Maybe the pressings on one of these would be close enough to do the repair.

I appear to have a couple of holes that may need unpicking

The rear bulkhead , I believe (stand to be corrected), is a pig to fit as it has to go in from the side of the car and can only really be done with both sides out.

I was going to fit one to LHJ38P but after seeing how it was going to have to go in I decided to repair it and involved making new sections, including the fluted part about 3" up from the load floor (which I had already replaced).

Hopefully I can sort out that grille piece for you later on...
