Lucas mirrors

Post by nickacb »

Hello, just asking for some assistance if Lucas sold vintage rear mirrors like the one on the picture, if they fit the mini and whats the use for the little lever under it, and you know any info about them cause I'm considering in buying one for my car. Thanx

Hi :)

Non of the above mirrors will fit a Mini.

The Lucas mirror for a Mini looks like this, and is very rare :(

I searched for a long time.

The lever is so you dont get blinded, by the headlights, from the car behind you, in the night.

Thanx JC it seems that the bracket to screw the mirror to the car can be replaced with the correct one for the mini. I like the look of it in your picture well polished and bright, I think I'll take the risk.

The arms can indeed be converted. Many original works cars that used this mirror used a converted shaft.

Also the 2 bolt fixing one is not perfect, it fits but tends to rattle back & forth a bit & can loosen the screws.

My solution:

The white block is a piece of plastic.
You can not see it from outside.

That reminds me Mark, I haven't paid you for that 608 mirror. Can I PayPal the money?

So very true, I heard this from a few Wood & Pickett owners.

I also heard that a std MK I Mini mirror, from 1965 use a Black rubber, that could be used, on the 608 mirror arm, to prevent this.
Does anyone have a picture ? (the std 1965 mirror rubber, in Black)
I was told that its ONLY 1965 it was fitted.

Hi Nickacb,

no poblemo, but this is not my mirror, it was a picture I found on the internet.

I put it into my mobile phone, so I remembered to bring it to UK/Beaulieu 2011.

It was there I learned, how rare these mirrors are
