It was in their last sale and barely made 10k. Solid Mk3 from what I remember.

Yeh, the 1098 is a lot "more potent" than a 1275. Of course it is
Probably a decent little Mk3 if it spent years in S. Africa but that doesn't make it worth almost £20,000!

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
Looks like a left hand tank that’s been mullered to fit on the right hand side ..
But that’s only a minor issue with this car in the grand scheme of things !!!!!
Looks a good shell though but not even worth half what the seller thinks it’s worth !

Looks like someone put the boot badges on blindfolded.... Ditto the front seat covers.
Boot floor has been changed (no spare wheel bracket), boot board brackets missing at the front and painted black on the rear bulkhead. No bright trims or rivets around the door tops. And the vinyl on the upper and lower dash rails looks decidedly iffy...

Sadly whoever made these didn't realise that the lettering and the checker board is white on the originals - not silver....

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
It is the wrong 'shell isn't it? Wrong bootlid too (modified Mk3 I think?) and the shell has no air intake in the bulkhead. The reg. number looks familiar to me. It isn't the car which Barbara Alexander used to run when she took over the MCR Mk1 Cooper register is it? If so, I reckon it has had a shell change since66Traveller wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 9:57 am https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/393990664076 ... SwGS1iM4tZ

Indeed - some things are right: hydro and later door handles. Boot lid wrong - single skinned for starters . But the absence of a hole on the bulkhead is a mystery - its not as though there has ever been one by the looks of things?

And the front Morris badge has a silver background66Traveller wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:08 am Sadly whoever made these didn't realise that the lettering and the checker board is white on the originals - not silver....

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
It is a right strange mix and match . The bootlid is a modified Mk3 or Heritage item (which amounts to the same thing pretty much). Look at the shape above the number plate on that car and compare that area with that of a genuine Mk1 bootlid. The top of the recess is straight across on an original lid but much more of an arc on the Mk3 type lid. It is this arc which makes aligning the Mk1 badges more difficult to achieve.66Traveller wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 11:35 am Indeed - some things are right: hydro and later door handles. Were riveted brackets not just on some very early ones ?
Pity decent looking shell with decent panel gaps bonnet and doors look like a decent fit
which is often not the case

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
Maybe has the higher (earlier) seatbelt mounts?
Lack of bulkhead air intake was covered earlier on.
I can't see the retaining channel for the rear quarter panel trims which again was an early car feature.
I agree, looks a good shell, but still wrong!
Can't see the header rail (above the windscreen) which would show us the sunsivor mounting area. This would be different too of course.

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
Yes the 'base unit' has certainly been exchanged for a pre- fresh air heater shell (so pre 63?) with high seatbelt mounts. You are right - the cant rail would be very revealing: I bet it has the early sun visors with the central chrome mount (or at least the captive nuts for them). I doubt it has any courtesy light switches either. Panel gaps (apart from the boot lid) are good.
