Hi,
Not happy! I've been putting in a new boot floor in my mini which is a wet one and have managed to borrow a dry rear subframe to see if everything lines up OK and hopefully in the pictures you can see they don't. I measured everything loads of times and put the floor in where the original was. Everything else when put in place is fine like the boot to wheel arch strentheners and the plates underneath and am a bit stuck on what to do next. Has anyone got any ideas please.
thanks
Karl

Re: rear subframe mounting holes
Frustrating to say the least.
Is the subframe an original item or a copy.?

Re: rear subframe mounting holes
Any chance of getting hold of the subframe that came off the car originally.?
Did you do any work on the subframe mounting panel at all.?

Re: rear subframe mounting holes
No chance of the old subframe it fell off when l took it to bits 19yrs ago!
I have changed most of the subframe mounting panel, first I changed the floor on the one
side, followed by the mounting panel so I always had a reference on the other side to go by.

Re: rear subframe mounting holes
Might have found the problem the holes in the floor are 38.25 in to their centres, while the subframe is 38.5 in to the centres of the mounting brackets and if you look in the service manual it says 38.5 in. So it looks like the holes have not been punched in the right place,
not sure how this could have happened as it a heritage part! So its out with the tape measure now to see which holes are out and to make sure every square.

Tidy. Assuming everything else, ie the subby mounting panel is in the right place it looks as if a round file is all that is needed to elongate the holes in the boot floor.

Re: rear subframe mounting holes
Had another go tonight with my mate who gives me a hand and we got the driver side ones in with out to much messing, just the passenger side to go which seam to be a lot more out. But I thought some measuring from the front subframe mounting holes to make sure everything is square before I will be happy.

Re: rear subframe mounting holes
I can remember that I have been struggling with this a bit as well. I used all Heritage panels all around to fit the new Heritage rear subframe. I recall the main problem was actually to fit the bolts into the new one-piece Heritage front mounting panel, which was probably due to the new trunnion bushes (I used an old subframe to align everything before welding the mounting panel and boot floor in). The rear bolts went in with some fiddling and guiding with a good screwdriver and only after lowering the subframe at the rear side for a few centimeters.
Too many cars...
