they are, there are a load of cheap bearings floating around that dont have enough space between the two bearings
please note, these are my own, individual sales, nothing whatsoever to do with my employer, minispares

Re: rear hub
i,ve done the nut up to 40lb/ft and it seems ok. will that be ok for a few days untill i find out what the problem is?
it,s a non genuine bearing from a well known supplier.

Although that's certainly true for some cars, I seem to remember my old Hillman Avenger was like that. it's not the case with Mini's. Both front and rear hubs need to be torqued up correctly.bmcman.ie wrote:i stand to be corrected, but i thought all taper bearings didnt have a torque setting, you just tighten up to take play out and loosen i flat? ian.

Re: rear hub
I had this very same problem the other day.... I have just tightened it by hand until there is no side to side movement and it is fine... it was the same on my scirocco... a few people i talked to say that it shouldnt be torqued to the book...Dino wrote:Although that's certainly true for some cars, I seem to remember my old Hillman Avenger was like that. it's not the case with Mini's.
