I'm not a member of the Mini 7 Club, so I can't get on their forum to ask this question, but perhaps someone here has experience on this matter.
What front crank dampers have you used successfully and at what RPM range?
Who has tested in actual race use both the KAD and SH Engineering ones and can comment on their effectiveness and longevity?
The typical application here in N. America would see 8500+ rpm and would be used in conjunction with a highly lightened flywheel such as KAD or Swiftune type, light Carrillo or Pauter rods, and light custom pistons, such as JE.
Any input or direction for more info would be welcome. Thanks.

I actually designed the KAD damper, so I can bore you to tears with information and the results we have had from it if you'd like, but I haven't even seen an SH damper actually in use, so I can't really compare the two.
Swiftune use the KAD damper on most of their engines (they previously used the SH damper), so a quick phone call to them could prove useful...
Although the SH damper is a friction (plate and springs) type damper not a viscous damper I think.

I have used both on my race engines. My Mini Miglia engines have the SH dampers (KAD alloy flywheels, Arrow rods, Steel Crank e.t.c.) and i have been using them since 2007 with no issues.
My App K FIA engines run the KAD damper (KAD alloy flywheels, Arrow rods, Steel Crank e.t.c.) again with no issues
