It's a fake isn't it. Probably 10years newer than claimed.
And in a colour not available and fitted with an engine not available - along with seats, dashboard and almost everything else
It ought to be crushed

Didn’t think I’d ever see a ‘tax exempt special’ Maxi … but that is what it is/was, would be my guess.
More like a mid/late 70’s example.

Oh pants. Thought it looked modern for a 69 car. I give up! had another look at the photos. The switches and gear stick are modern. I should have looked a little closerOld English White wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 7:26 pmI hope they don't.floormanager wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 5:52 pm Hope someone rescues this

Yes, the original car they nicked the chassis number from probably was. The car in the pictures is a late 1970s Maxi Mk2 in Sandglow with the late type velour interior.
As Andrew says, it will have been done for tax exemption back when that applied to cars built before 1972. Ironically, a later model like that car would be tax exempt anyway now

Yes - a great pity - if it was the original 69 car it would be a real find. But its a ringer...
Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
There's a brown Maxi in the ring, tra la la la la, there's a brown....

I picked this up too. It's not advertised as such but it looks to me like a baulk-ring conversion set for the early cone type boxes.Southwest wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 9:01 am Decent price , not mine.

Yes, but look at some of these purpose built 'wedding cars', seemingly Q plated and built on an old Transit chassis. Some have Mini doors. They are just embarrassing.Old English White wrote: ↑Sun Dec 26, 2021 2:41 pm That blue Mini City has to be the least convincing "Italian Job Replica" ever seen
My mate was about to rent one of these heaps complete with a suited and booted driver for about £600. I and others had 'a word' and as a result I borrowed a new black 7 Series from work, banged some ribbons on, sorted. I think it was the last time I wore a suit.

I stumbled across this on eBay. Could be an idea for a crossover thread on Corgi/Dinky restorations. Put me in mind of the That's Life stuffed cat...

Just a minute, I am bedazzled by the headlights on this one
Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
That's had a log book swap. Should have Morris Mini Cooper cast into the base, not Morris Mini Minor. Not to mention the later tyres, bonnet should be white and grille and bumpers should be silver. Value is about £1.IslandBlue wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 3:22 pm I stumbled across this on eBay. Could be an idea for a crossover thread on Corgi/Dinky restorations.
