As title really, any ideas ?
Assume its a pressure sensor/ transducer or an engine cut-out or both?

Yes, oil pressure sender, if you open one up they work just like a fuel tank sender; wiper and a wound coil resistor, hence the size.

Yes VDO type. You can get ones that have a low oil pressure switch in them too, but they are usually too low switching for racing (0.5 bar)

I didn't know this was a thing, much better than having a pipe running inside that could spray hot oil everywhere..
Any ideas where I can get one that also turns on a low pressure light?

If you get a T piece, you can run the sensor for the light, plus the sensor for the gauge
All electric gauges have a similar pressure sender. Of course the downside is the gauge and sender have to be perfectly matched and the voltage has to be right
T piece

20 psi warning lamp

Here’s an example of the electrical sender kits. Some have one wire on the sender and then earth through the block, some have 2 wires. You’ll also need earth + switched power

They’re not very reliable in my experience.
If you’re worried about oil inside you can get an isolator that goes in the pressure line.

Re: Whats this on Miglia Engine ?
so something like this ? .......
https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/vd ... 0081030010.
All looks a bit fragile from the exploded image, and why use an extension pipe - is it to reduce vibration or to create space ?
.. Why not go for solid state ? smaller and normally more robust......bit like this one...?
