That is looking amazing! and the lines are so sharp I'd be really tempted to go for a darker 'Rob Walker' Blue (but I know Surf has been the plan from the start)

Thanks again for all your motivating response. :D :D

Moving on to the drivetrain. Nothing really out of the ordinary, but a careful gearbox overhaul has to be done, of course, to get the engine power properly on the road. So check, measure, inspect, replace and carefully reassemble everything. A 4 Syncro remote gearbox with 3.44 final drive ratio is used.

While the body is getting its coat of paint, the engine and attachments should also be able to shine accordingly. Since I am not a fan of painted screw heads and seals, I just stuck all the parts together for painting. This saves me from having to mask the parts and they are only painted where they are visible from the outside. Only the gearbox is a bit tricky. So I first painted the gearbox from underneath, then I put the engine block on top of it and painted the whole engine.

In 1966 or 67 there was a competition in one of the mini magazines where you could win a Broadspeed GT Mini. I think that the prize was a maroon one. I entered the competition and convinced myself that I was going to be the winner. I even had a Broadspeed GT picture on my wall. Sadly, another million other mini cooper fans also entered and thought that they would win too. Nope....., I didn't win but that's why have been a fan of them ever since.

Does anyone else remember the details of the magazine and the competition?

I must admit, the box was full :D But indeed the box was strong too.

As mentioned the color is Mid Bronze Green, or whatever my paint shop has mixed according the British Standard Code BS223. But its also a mater of how the photo was taken. Check the differences of the shade of the up side down gearbox and the engine in bright sunlight. And on digital photos I can later shift the color temperature to every tone or shade I want. So never trust a digital photo on a computer screen.

There was no news last week, as I treated myself to a week's holiday on and near the water.

But now the paintjob is finished. The only thing missing is the white stripe across the bonnet. This will be painted on when the bonnet is finally mounted and exactly aligned. Now I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
