Monte Carlo 66. Makinen/Easter. Group 1. Disqualified.
Recce car:
Tulip 66 Aaltonen
Acropolis 66 Hopkirk
Polish 66. Makinen/Easter. New Group 2 car. Retired. Note: Browning records GRX555D as driven by Aaltonen and HJB656D as driven by Makinen. Price has a photo of Makinen/Easter at scrutineering with GRX555D and records the correct crews/cars. It is understood a late swap was made (before departure for Poland, presumably, in view of documentation regulations of the period).
Recce car:
Coupe des Alpes 66 Aaltonen
Monte Carlo 67 Aaltonen
Sold to L. Lambourne (the BMC/MG factory engineer?)

Recce car (Fall/Wood) Flowers 67. Photo appears to show Gp1 or standard car with works exhaust, SP44s, Minilites front, 4.5 S rears, 4 wheel roof rack, 4 aux lights on bar, no cage. The original car? (the new Polish Gp2 car having "borrowed" the plate).

Resto photos appear to support the first two posts in this thread ie. that it is the original Group 1 car throughout and the Group 2 GRX555D that appeared on the Polish borrowed the registration that was later returned to the original car that had for some time become a recce car.

Looking through some old MCR mags from 2016 last night 555D went to a good friend of Paul Lips in Italy after his sad passing. The car was however still in the UK and being restored by Chris Spennywynn, but many of the parts were back in Italy. The articles suggest it was being done to the ‘66 spec as Paul Price was working on the wiring and the controversial headlight dipping system.
