Cheers, this one is actually an easier one compared to some that I have owned. VW Camper was pretty rough and the Mk2 my Dad has needed EVERYTHING!

Chris, I too have a smooth roof van waiting for restoration and would like a new floor. If you find Geoff from Cambridge would you mind letting me have his details please. I am not far from there. Cheers. Mark

Thanks for the response, but I am actually in need of the floor as opposed to the load deck. Unfortunately the crossmember has done the usual trick of rotting out and taking the floor with it

Smashing pair
I can't wait to get behind the wheel, plenty of work to do first though!
No real updates to give right now - just the boring stuff of bits have been sandblasted and are in storage ready for painting in January.

Its teh time now on the little bits that will pay off in the end.. trust me hours in the garage blasting /Priming and painting will make the end result worth while...

Oh I agree, I first saw a show Mini being restored back in 1999 and didn't get it then. Fast forward through another 3 Mini's and it was 2005 - my Mini was being built I finally understood. Luckily all lessons learnt plus 30 years of my Dad's experience mean that this should turn out to be pretty damn good.

Re: 1960 Van
Work will start on this again in about 2 months, at the moment the MK2 is in the garage upside down on the spit. Will be starting on some welding, so it will be pretty exciting to see the Van edge closer to being finishes, as opposed to being taken apart and looking worse every day!
Here are some of the previous cars that my Dad has done, and one of my old Mini.

Re: 1960 Van
The Mk1 doors with the square hole and channels went out in May 1960, so are all the Mk1 doors after this point the same as was fitted to the Mk2?

As far as I can tell, you are correct in assuming the above.ChrisB wrote:The Mk1 doors with the square hole and channels went out in May 1960, so are all the Mk1 doors after this point the same as was fitted to the Mk2?
I did read somewhere that the Heritage doors available today are slightly different in the area underneath the window runner on the inside of the door. The section that the door latch sits on.

Re: 1960 Van
Ok, thanks. I have some 60's doors that can be fitted to my Van and obviously correct type is favoured. Another item I can tick off the list.

Re: 1960 Van
The seat cover is gorgeous isn't it, worth every penny for that alone!
The plan for this one is to take the bits that are good and use them other rebuild of my 1960 Van which was incomplete at time of purchase. Items like the steering column with horn push have gotten expensive, the tan van interior has also become a rarity. Now I have a 90% complete 1960 Van and a very rotten and damaged 1966 Van.
Ideally I would have built it into a trailer and sold it on so the Van lived on in some way. It seems that won't be possible though due the massive rot.
We'll see what happens when I dig deeper.
