Wal Phillips fuel injection

Post by Pandora »

I wonder, has anyone any experience of 'Wal Philips fuel injectors'? seems they were a bit like Amals in the bike / scooter fraternity, but occassionally used on small capacity cars too. Or maybe more like a Reece fish?

anyway, I ask because I'm thinking about buying :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-cooper-S ... 35b8428484

for the my clubmans car project, but opinions on them on bike forumms seem mixed - fire is mentioned quite a lot as is on/off throttle response.......

I wonder how drivable they'd be on a moderately tuned 998?

Any experience anyone has of them would be much appreciated.

(Of course, I realise I'm shooting myself in the foot here, as having alerted you all to some unusual period carbs, I won't be able to win the resultant bidding war! )

I wouldn't if I was you.

I have a new single one of these ion the garage (courtesy of Rich) & to be honest to say it's simple is the understatement of the century. I doubt they would be upto the job in any but the most simple application.

They were very popular on scooters at one time.

used one on my lambretta gt 200 in my early scooter days, spat back on me and set fire to my anorak, had a 5 ft flame trailing behind me!
