Been looking at Mk1 website and forum on and off for years .
Have now joined the forum.
Here is my Mk1
Been into Mini's since I saw the Italian Job for the first time, way back in 1981 when I was 10.
Bought this one in December 91 for £450 . After being moved from house to house and lock up to lock up I eventually finished it in 2004. It's first drive was to the Mini45 event at Silvestone . I entered the show n shine , despite it looking like brand new I did not get anywhere . I do not think it was in favour as it was not standard spec. Anyway , it has gone on to win prizes , Miniworld mag feature , mag stand appearances and the ultimate was being asked to display it on the Miniworld stand at Longbridge for the Mini 50 event .
Also made me some good friends in the Mini scene.
Other than welding , final prep and paint which was carried out by mates at work, all the other work I have done myself .
1960 shell , still got its original smooth outer sills .
Uprated suspension and brakes .
1340 MED engine kit built up by me .
Newton Commercial front buckets in powder blue and grey fleck , no rear seats or heater.
Perspex windows .
4.5 Minilifes with 008's .
David.

A very nice looking car you have there, just wondering where you can get a mk1 for that money now?

Re: AMP 540A
Thanks guys .
It was quite solid and would probably cost about £1500+ these days to buy one in the condition I bought mine for back in 91 .
Obviously I have spent some money on it , its had new front end , door skins , a replacement roof , valance , bonnet and new subframes etc .
There are some old gems out there belonging to old people who do not know what they have .
Its just luck I guess .
