Why would you do that? Surely it defeats the object of the straight through airflow?

Why would you do that? Surely it defeats the object of the straight through airflow?
torque, torque and more torque - the length of the pipe is directly related, the longer the better. Far more important to have a long inlet tract than straight for the torque. The problem with this setup is that the fuel will centrifuge out towards the outside of those bends. It is far more suited to an injection setup.

Tero has updated his engine after it was revealed that the long intake manifold and relatively short carbs restricted the engine. Carbs out, throttle bodies in. Management by Haltech. Power went up to 136 hp so investments proved to be useful.

That's what I thought... Pretty much like most modern engines are build. With very long intake runners. Also interesting on that matter: http://www.starchak.ca/8port/efi.htm :ugeek:
