Re: LBL 606D for sale
Is it me, or is this a bit like "The Emperors new clothes" ? - does not look anything like the original photo.
Nice Mini to own, but what are you buying that is connected to the original works car (s) apart from the reg
Cant imagine any other type of collecting where this would be ok
Feel free to tell me if I am talking B*11*ck5, but I just dont get it.......

Is this one of those BLMC Group 5 cars from 1969, similar to this car driven by John Rhodes at Crystal Palace in 1969?

Re: LBL 606D for sale
Even in the archive photos in the listing show the reg flip flopping between Mk1 and Mk2 cars. This might just be the last one to carry this reg, whether that makes it the same LBL606D is a matter of Trigger's Broom isn't it?
Of course I know what a dipstick is, you get called something often enough you look it up!

Re: LBL 606D for sale
Considering how many times this gets discussed online, how many hundreds of photos have been posted and how many books and magazine articles have been written on this subject over the years I’m quite baffled by the number of people that still haven’t noticed that the works Comps Dept put old rally car registrations on loads of their later race and rally cars (to save the expense and hastle of registering new cars) so there were plenty of works Mk1 registration numbers on later Mk2s, it’s quite a long list of cars and registrations!

Plenty of works Minis/registrations also appeared as Austin or Morris on different events sometimes depending on local dealers and marketing requirements....and occasionally as Austin from the front and Morris from the back and vice versa!
