Re: WTF.....
Or the other way of looking at it, how much profit would there be in breaking a perfectly good car and selling it off one piece at a time? Its horrible to contemplate but happens regularly in the classic motorcycle world.

Re: WTF.....
It does seem rather over-priced doesn't it. Not much sign of the claimed "stried down to bear sheel" respray in the photos either or am I translating it wrongly?mk1coopers wrote:

Re: WTF.....
I'll bet that is what the owner has spent doing it up, so he thinks that's what its worth. It doesn't work like that.

Re: WTF.....
Mine was rusty, greasy and bent and had a bolt broken off in one of the captive nuts. I drilled out the broken bolt, stuck it in the bead blaster at work and hosed off all the grease and rust. gave it a couple of taps with a hammer and a squirt with some satin black paint and it looks like NOS one.
I've discovered that a bead blaster can convert scrap metal into gems, its amazing.

Re: WTF ?!?!?
By the look of the bidding patterns, I suspect that the winner (whilst probably pissed) thought, "I'll have this at any cost", put a daft bid in and then at the last minute another bloke came along in an identical frame of mind!
I'm not sure, but I doubt whether this episode has just "set the price".
Rather, just an unfortunate twitch at an auction!
