Shelsley Walsh Classic Nostalgia - 17/18 July

Post by Pete »

Well if you enjoyed Prescott you’ll probably love the Classic meeting at Shelsley Walsh. They have a big Mini class this year (split into three) to celebrate 60 Years of the Mini Cooper. Not as technical a course as Prescott but much more relaxed with sheltered paddock, loads of fantastic cars, very friendly scrutineers  , always a firm favourite event on my calendar. They’ll even host club stands and there’s still room for more Minis on the Hillclimb if you fancy it. Oh and the beer’s great. :D

Full paddock access for spectators now at this event as Shelsley have batted MSUK off in favour of a non licensed (but still timed) event and responsible adults. The paddock’s the heart of the event so a good move on their part I think.

Pete. The e-type event followed the same format and was a great success. Catering facilities were excellent and well safe distanced. All it needs is a bit of thought and thinking outside the box. I give Shelsley SEVEN! They did have covid test NHS log in whatsits at entry points.

It’s not on the online entry system, do you know how to enter Pete? Or are entries now closed?

For the first time ever, I actually got a place at this event. sadly, I had to cancel last Monday.

Since then, my circumstances have changed & things are a bit more back to normal, so I could have done this one after all. What a bugger. Never mind, there is always next year.

I am sure that all those attending will have a great time.

I was available in the end but alas too late for an entry.
May make it as a spectator on Sunday.
The entries must have closed early.

Jesus it was a scorcher! 🥵
Only one or two Minis in the car park (the Mini scene really has become soooo Minicentric!) but some great machinery across the whole event, a good variety on the hill and a cracking turn out.

Great to be out in 110 NNM (Minty! ) and running absolutely fine but really lacks anywhere near enough grunt for this kind of event (I’m torturing it! ) so either the engine is coming out or I'm retiring the car once my racer’s done!

The Bolster ‘59 won the show and shine..
