I'm a bit embarassed for asking about this but here goes anyway;
I'm been made aware that there are/were in fact two different part numbers on the lower engine mounts.... one for the RH-side (clutch cover) and one for the LH-side (under the radiator)
In all the years I've been working on these cars.. I've just been using one of them... (not quitew sure which - just ordered double of whatever part number i found first)..
Question is; why are there two numbers and what is the difference between the LH and RH side... What happends if you, say, use two RH sides?

Re: Lower LHS engine mount...
The automatic has a different engine mounting. The manuals are all the same left or right hand side.

Re: Lower LHS engine mount...
both the auto mounts are different from the manual one.
the lh side one is very similar, but the rh one is a fair bit bigger, to cope with the torque convertor i guess

please note, these are my own, individual sales, nothing whatsoever to do with my employer, minispares
Re: Lower LHS engine mount...
Originally, only one mount had the step built into it, the other was plain. I can never remember which one was what but I think the clutch end was the plain one. The plain mount has not been available (that I know of) for years but someone was looking for a plain mount to copy a few years ago. I have got one somewhere and looked it outr but I have not heard any more about it. The fact is that the stepped ones work well at both ends.

Re: Lower LHS engine mount...
According to the parts list AKD 3509 - there were different mountings on non-auto cars too;
Part no . 2A5772 - for RH-side and Part no . 12A361 for the LH-side...
I take it others have missed this too

Re: Lower LHS engine mount...
I think the manual cars had two different engine mounts to deal with the torque on the 1275 S.
