Thanks for comments,

Not quite finished yet, have to do a little touch up on spam panel, paint a few bolts etc and a bit of flatting and polishing,
It’s never going to be a show winner as it still has glue stained headlining, a bit of wear on the trim etc, but it’s how I prefer them to be, the d1 wheels could do with a refurb but will wait till I decide to change the tyres, so they just got a clean for now.

I have 2 good 5 bolt bumpers that need rechroming so they will hopefully be done Later this year.

Just looking forward to taking it out now.

Still have a little more to do, but basically finished, tracking done and interior finished, got a tool bag from newton but still have to refurbish my jack,
I had rebuilt it as a homage to downton touring no4 spec So I purchased a badge from this site. Only issue I have is I am unsure if to install it on bootlid or rocker cover, have temporary held it on bootlid with tape for now while I decide. Any comments on this appreciated to help me decide. Seats and steering wheel retain some wear, but I wanted to retain that rather than restore. Same with a few other trim parts, headlining shows some glue staining Etc.
Am pretty pleased with it apart from a few minor areas of paint that need a little flatting, but then a home restoration in less than perfect conditions a few blemishes are to be expected.

That looks lovely.

Rocker cover for me re the badge. One less item to be levered off with a screwdriver when you’re out and about.....

Rocker cover: much more subtle - less is more! It is a lovely car - but Mk2 Cooper Boot lid already has a lot going on: Austin Cooper badge, Mk2 script and 1000 badge already without the Downton badge as well...

Thanks,

Have taken advice and cleaned up back end and trial fitted badge to rocker cover, think it’s better this way, I have fitted one of my original 5 bolt bumpers on the back as it will be better for now and can get rechromed over the winter. Have painted screw heads on boot and door hinges, also on slam panel so almost there now, need a new rocker cover gasket as the cork one I purchased from minispares just keeps leaking, think will try a silicon one. Needs mats fitting and a good clean, bit of flatting and a polish, so hopefully get it out in a couple of weeks, hopefully weather picks up.
Looking forward to some shows, but probably next year now, also want a good sa12 coil to replace the lucas gold I have fitted as it’s a bit late for the car, think 1980’s, also unsure if to put some 32oz points in and take the igniter out.

Beautiful job on the resto, car looks amazing.

Can i ask, where did the bulkhead soundproofing come from?

Cheers

Thanks for comments,
The bulk head soundproofing I bought a long time ago so not 100% sure but I did buy some stuff from a company called British mini company so likely from there, I don’t think they exist anymore.

Beautiful car there Daz, hats off to you for getting such a nice result. The colour combo and the style of number plates really hits the right spot too ;)

I'll be sorry when Daz's car is finished and leaves this part of the forum. It's part of my weekly 'fix' of inspiration. Slow down a bit Daz!

Between me and you Daz, I think that with you being a wizzard at photos and descriptive writing, you ought to mate up with someone who's good at computers and between you, self publish a book about what you've done. It'll sell like hot cakes to the hundreds of others out there doing the same. I hope you are reading this too Andy1967!!!

Thanks,

Is is effectively finished now apart from a couple of areas of paint I would like to redo, also want my 5 bolt bumpers chromed,
But in no rush as never wanted a perfect show car, I wanted a period modified car retaining as much original parts as I could, only modern parts I have used are where original, nos or good used were not available.
I have enjoyed getting the car back on the road as it’s been over 22 years since I last used it, I think I will sell the mk1 deluxe eventually and just keep this one as I can’t use them both easily.
