Minifin rocker cover
Have fitted MED 1.5:1 LDX roller rockers and would like to know if the old minifin / Arden rocker cover would fit. It looks the same as the later MG metro sloping type. I cannot fit it as the engine is still at the builders.

Re: Minifin rocker cover
From MED website - https://www.med-engineering.co.uk/cylin ... dx-rockers - additional information section:
"The standard steel rocker cover will clear these rockers, but aftermarket aluminium types will usually catch the arms on the rear corners. So either machine out material from the inside of the cover or upgrade to an MED rocker cover, which comes pre-machined internally to suit."
So I'd say probably not without a bit of work creating some clearance on the inside of the rocker cover.

Re: Minifin rocker cover
I can confirm the old mini fin rocker cover will NOT fit over 1.5 ratio alloy rockers.
And the customer just had it chromed

Re: Minifin rocker cover
I tried several alloy covers and none would clear my Titan rollers.
In order to use the Minispares cover I had already bought I had a local engineering company do a “fly cut” (as they called it) to the rear inside face. This thinned the rear of the cover to provide the required internal clearance.
I suppose this means the rear face of the cover is slightly weaker but it hasn’t developed any leaks /distortion in 30 years of use so it seems the strength is adequate.
Cheers, Ian

Re: Minifin rocker cover
I have a B&G Rocker cover on my LDX Rockers.
I had to machine it a bit inside.

Re: Minifin rocker cover
If anyone needs one, I have a Metro sloped cover that has been modified to clear 1.5x rockers and a breather added on the rear

Re: Minifin rocker cover
Thanks for the replies.
Will have it machined as I already have the two breather pipes welded on as per MED one.

Re: Minifin rocker cover
The 'machining' really doesn't have to be anything fancy - mine was done with a drill and 2" diameter flap wheel like this:

And with a process of checking and sanding comes out looking something like this:
