E-Type 60 invites Minis to the party - Shelsley Walsh 12-13 June 2021

This summer’s E-type 60 event at Shelsley Walsh on 12-13 June will also celebrate another British icon with its diamond jubilee in 2021: the Mini Cooper. Two drivers closely associated with the Mini Cooper, racer John Fitzpatrick and rally legend Paddy Hopkirk, will be on hand for this 60th anniversary party, with displays and club stands adding to the colour of the event.

Entries are open for Minis to compete in a hillclimb up the famous 1000-yard route on Saturday 12 June, with practice sessions in the morning and timed runs in the afternoon. It costs £145 per person and you can get full details here:-

I agree it’s a congested month as they’re all gonna be but I really fancy it so I’m there for the weekend. Get some great old boys at their events, those that are left, I got some really good info about the Unipower when I took that,

I’m sorting out some race/ rally cars for this event Cliff but they have definitely invited us and if somebody wants to coordinate with Rebecca at Shelsley to put on a Mk1 Performance display she’d be only to happy to give us a nice spot. Is there anyone willing to do this?

I am just about to be off grid for a week, and I'm not sure if an electric mini counts, but if I can help I will.
What exactly do you mean by performance display?
I am hoping to have my car on the road and be there, but there will be teething and I don't have a race licence.

Aparantly you may not need a race licence for this event as the entry form only asks for a road licence.
I don't think its supposed to be competitive, but wil be a decent opportunity to have a run up a famous hill in almost anything mini or E-type.
Just need a correct helmet, which you can hire at the venue.
I think Pete was refering to Mk 1 Performance as in this forum type 'performance'

Well I'm not so sure now as they are telling me that we can't enter the same car for 2 drivers as the minis will only run in one batch.
so

"At this stage, it is quite likely that we will have only one Hillclimb class for Minis, it wouldn't be possible for a second driver to use your vehicle in the manner you have currency entered. This is because each class will go up the Hillclimb in one batch and then return en masse down the hill (there is no return road).
You would be able to share the vehicle if you were to do two of the four runs each, ie, you each do a practice run and you each do a timed run, in which case we would refund you for your second entry."

So the runs appear to be timed.
Don't quite know what to make of not being asked for a competition licence number though.

I think it’s one of these non MUK licensed events, like Javelin Track Days’ sprint events which are also timed but don’t require a licence. Shelsley has been privately hired by the E Type club who are running it and Rebecca Leopard is doing the PR.
