Hard to find, indeed. In particular with their unique features still in place. I was lucky, mine found me, and I then didn't even know what I got.
Yes I am a nerd: I am researching the Austrian Mini-racing scene of the 60s and 70s :ugeek:

As per before, I have an old demister on the back windscreen.
I tried something to make the car brakes a bit more visible.
Not sure I like it so I don't think it will stay, its pretty ugly:

Does anyone know if a light placed on the parcel shelf is a goer?
I had presumed it has to be against the glass or it would light up the inside too much.

Edit: I took it off!

There was someone who did a conversion of a period lamp to 3rd brake lamp, it was a great idea and looked really good but can’t remember where I’ve seen it or if it was high level or on the parcel shelf.

I also install a 3rd Brake Light.. it is placed on top of the parcel shelf ..also dual purpose and can be switched through a relay to then become a Rear Fog Light as & when it may be needed .. not as BMC intended or C&U certified and will not satisfy the oe police..but as Clark Gable said to Vivien Lee .. "i dont give a Dam" 8-)

A version of them are easy to find on Ebay, slightly more 1920's text.
And thanks but not for me!

And I refer you to the Smart Motorway thread on here!
I'm not sure if everything behind you stops every time you touch the brakes! :D

By way of a little update while I'm waiting for the subframe and bits back, I fitted a retro dealer window badge and you may spot the amendment:

Cheers!
It fooled my wife which is the acid test!
I have since stopped the light leaking out the side.
Now all I have to do is figure out why on earth one photo is tiny and one is enormous!

That said, the light strips I used can be cut to length and really are super-bright.
And only around £3 each!

For reference Rover fitted this high level brake light at parcel shelf level on the last of the MPi Minis.

I actually bought a near identical one on Ebay but the led strips were much brighter, and easier to disguise.

There could be quite a market for your discreet third brake light for many classic cars, as the topic of what to fit for added safety reasons that does not look out of place often comes up on forums after rear end shunts on Minis by modern cars and SUV's, whose drivers often say they have not noticed the low down small brake lights of an older car with no high level led brake warning light.

Brief update.
Batteries in South Africa but slowly making their way here!
Motor is in the UK.
Reduction box being built as I write.
Front subframe should have motor brackets fitted and back to me in around 10 days.
I am itching to get going!
Nick used a 3D scanner to scan another early Mini front and back.
He then used existing models of other projects to play around with what could go where.
It looks good!
Weight distribution is very good too and everything fits so far. There looks to be space for a standard radiator and even a (very) little boot space!
It all looks to be a goer!
Below is some of what he sent me:
