I have just dug out an old NOS pair of driveshafts and the yoke seems to have green paint, whereas the shaft itself is black.
I seem to recall a discussion on here to which I may have contributed, but once again can't find it. Can anyone confirm or should only the yoke on the box end be green, and the shaft yoke black???

Re: Colour of Yoke / driveshaft
Any pics I have seen, show the yoke on the tranny, and, the joint on the yoke just prior to painting the engines, so, inner yoke and rubber joint, and, two u bolts would all be green......
Outer yoke was presumably assembled on the shaft, and, probably black........plus, two unpainted u bolts.....

Just checked 6 old original coupling/shafts, all still have their original aluminium factory boot clamps on them, and, all of them show signs of black paint only......
So, inner yoke, rubber coupling, and, two u bolts green, axle coupling black, and, two u bolts unpainted........would be how they came from the factory.......

Thanks for that, I think you are right - just been looking at this Pathe News film again and there is a part where they were fitting them
