Another one !!
Another one !!
Hi guys,
Another Mk1 is in my collection. This is a '64 1380 Cooper S replica with papers and some unremarkable history. It needs some TLC but is pretty much race ready. I'd also like to paint it back to it's original Fiesta Yellow.
Regards
Al

Re: Another one !!
I want to add the chrome door window trims, does anybody reproduce them for a Mk1? Also, did I read somewhere that some does 120 mph speedo face decals? Any leads apppreciated.

Re: Another one !!
Congratulations Al! Another almond green? So, you'll have a proper race Mini to beat those MINI COOPER S!
Btw, replied from Japan, they got some genuine NOS catch runners in chrome, but multiple holes one. Guess not cheap! And there is no repro products there.
Let us see your new project progress pls!

Re: Another one !!
Ted, the original colour was the NZ version of Fiesta Yellow and I'm thinking I'll go back to that. Isn't that what your 850 is?
Steve G, I have previously been speaking with Ted regarding the lower channel rails, so we have confused you. BTW, Larry has the Mk1 external window frame brightwork.

Hi Al,
April Green or Jasmine are the colours you'll be looking at.
Sorry can't help with the window runners.
Cheers

Hi Ted,
As it is an S replica, I'll be going with English FY. It's close, very close and my paint shop has the codes.
Thanks for trying to find rails.

Be very careful with "people" who sell those stickers. Very very careful indeed. You have been warned. Not with stickers, but with what they might also sell.
Note that the above does not refer to anyone specifically, or is designed to minimise their sticker selling business.
Caveat very emptor.

Thanks for your warning, the stickers are paid for and Jason has told me they are on their way. So far, so good.

Re: Another one !!
Stickers are fine, but if one ever deals with anyone dealing these stickers again (no names mentioned) be very careful indeed.
I'd look at every atom of everything "a sticker seller" was selling very very carefully to see that it was exactly what it said it was. Stickers are probably OK but anything else I would be exceedingly careful with. The early mini world is full of mugs to be parted from their money and one particular sticker seller is quite happy to help you in a huge way.
If we didn't have laws which were potential aids of naughty people, I'd give you lot the whole story which applied to me and something I bought and a chat I had and some other stuff I saw for sale. Needless to say, it is my duty of care to fellow enthusiasts to prevent loss/misery to them.

Re: Another one !!
Sorry, what I meant to say was exercise caution.
One person has been borderline criminal with other sales and will quite freely gloat about it.
I have firsthand experience of them and when "a sticker seller" says "Do you fancy this widger I have over here", you look carefully to see that it's not interfered with/rebadged/dodgy/bodged up/etc/etc in any way.
Someone got ripped off BIGSTYLE with a non-S which he had got the previous week in autotrader as a normal mini, done an engine swap, swapped the numbers over and there you go. £xK profit. This was merely one of a string.
I don't meet many people worthy of total contempt in the mini scene, one particular sticker seller is..... before you buy the sales pitch and slick talk.

Re: Another one !!
The stickers referred to are 120 mph speedo face stickers that convert a Mini Speedo into a Cooper S speedo. A most important detail and rated up there with twin tanks !!

Re: Another one !!
I can see a whole heap of trouble coming with those stickers when the speedos start getting flogged off on Ebay as the genuine article.
