Re: At The Auctions
(o) wrong servo mounting
(p) wrong fuel tank (and hence boot board)
(q) wrong pedals
(r) looks decidedly like a rod change tunnel, not remote
The incorrect servo mounting would point to id not being an early GT shell as there are no mounting holes in the top of the inner wing. Probably also why its original spot welded body number plate has been removed. Given the engine bay is far from concours, I think I'd have made some effort to age the new Commision and VIN plates.
He does admit the seats are retrimmed at least, and alloy wheels instead of Rostyles is no big shakes (although disappointingly they look like modern repros).
But.... I agree it is a very nice car and one I would be happy to own. Just just a little more effort could be much closer to what it purports to be.
I think the vendor score is a bit ambitious though!

(s) Wrong British Leyland badges on the A panels
(t) Should T bootlid handle?
(u) Should not have a bootlid liner
(v) Wrong sticker on the rocker cover - should be British Leyland
(e) Heater should also have the plastic case

Re: At The Auctions
The closer you look, the more things you spot
(s) 6 vent sills - should be 4 vent on a 1970 car.
(t) No FE Number on the inner wing
(u) wrong radiator header tank shape (should be like a Mk2)
(v) wrong front seats - they are the later recliners with the black handle attached to the seat back - if a 1970 had recliners the recliner handle would have been on the side of the seat base with a grey ball on the end.
(w) wrong headlamps - should be Lucas sealed beams
(x) engine is the wrong colour - should be mid bronze green on a 1970 car.
On (t) only 1969 and Jan / early Feb 1275GTs still had the Mk2 T handle I think.
On (v) the rocker cover should have no sticker at all - other than a S/T one since the car has the S pluspac twin 1.5 HS4s
On (r) well spotted - that is a rod change tunnel meaning it must have the wrong gearbox and suggesting strongly that "the base unit may have been exchanged....."

Re: At The Auctions
Only two more incorrect details and we have the whole alphabet
All this on a 10/10 car
Certainly the late type square transmission tunnel is a bit of a giveaway!
Oh dear.
Nice looking car though.

Re: At The Auctions
To be fair, they have knocked a couple of marks off for ‘Car history file’. Perhaps because the V5 that matches the shell is missing...

Re: At The Auctions
Hi all, mine is April 1970 and has everything this one hasn't including the British Leland sticker on the rocker cover and T boot lid handle, it has never had a complete overhaul.

Re: At The Auctions
I'll add
(y) single tower bolt subframe
So, a post May '76 shell with pre May '76 bits added. Could well be restored using a BMH Clubman shell.
I wouldn't mind owning it, but not at that price estimate.

Re: At The Auctions
Odder still that it has a rare 1966 high seat belt mounting shell!

Re: At The Auctions
You know the sellers really know their stuff when they describe these cars as "a hot hatch"
It does look tidy though, I agree. At the right price i think most of us would be interested. At top money, we'd all be looking for a different one.
Heritage bootlid isn't it? With the later shape pressing above the number plate?
