Primary Gear backing ring - standard size?

Post by gs.davies »

What's the standard size for the primary gear backing ring and where is that measurement taken from? The whole ring, or the depth less the c-Clip?

Trying to take up around twelve thou of slack and I know that Mini Spares do an oversized by 2 thou ring.

I've just quickly measured about 10 and they are all 0.158" (give or take a thou) on the thinner part.

It would seem strange that they've all worn consistently. So if the MS one really is 0.164" as they state then it sounds a bit more than 2 thou oversize and could make up a good bit of your 12 needed!
