A Group 1 998 Cooper on the 67 Monte Carlo entry list. (with Carolyn Tyler, who co-drove Aaltonen's sister in a works car on the 66 RAC).
Was originally a 970 S? (Chris Coburn drove it on Coupe des Alpes?).
(and those lights don't comply with the then current AppendixJ, 12 months on from the previous year's shambles)

I saw the programme and thought exactly that. They were given a high valuation but it would be great if the history could be re-united with the car

Yes it’s our car (Mike & Barbara). We have contacted the BBC about getting in contact with the current owners of the plates. They are not all from EBP as Sheleagh previously ran an 850 mini on the Monte. We have also previously been in contact with Chris Coburn who prepared & drove the car on 67 Alpine & 68 Monte.

It would be wonderful if the car & it's history could be reunited.

the place must be near St Paul de Vence as that's what it looks like in the background

John Sprinzel confirms most UK private entries on Monte got it wrong after the new Appendix J came in (and he recalls going down to the car deck on the ferry to remove one of his lights to comply with an event bulletin he only got to read after the ferry sailed).
Appendix J for 66 onwards stated a max number of 6 forward facing lights in Gp2 (which both the set ups on the Aldersmith car meet) but actual event regs had required an even number of lights symmetrically fitted. On that basis the arrangement with the Cibie Oscar would have been replaced by the other set up, not vice versa.

Very interesting! I bet there was a lot of UK entries messing about with light and wires during the event
