Yes Harley blue adjusters as used by the RAF on fast jet Type Z harnesses. These were used by both Willans and Irvin. The early Willans harnesses had the same adjusters and GQ buckle as used by Irvin on the BMC Comps Dept 4 point harnesses - Willans then developed their own quick release buckle (the ones in the photos I posted) whilst still using the Harley adjusters before eventually revising the buckle design and the adjuster design in the early 1970s

Thanks for the comments. I assume if it’s Willans it’s an aircraft harness as Willans didn’t start with racing harnesses until about 1967.

In which case it must be an Irvin Type Z - with a GQ buckle and four blue Harley adjusters.

Pete this was taken from a booklet about Maltby , It mentions the Hellaby Park circuit , according to Wikipedia there was a dog track late 20s and then a motorcycle track before being abandond , The cricketer it mentions is the great Freddie Trueman .

Brilliant thanks Goff! Never knew that. So I presume it was a loose surface track?
As regards the harness it’s definitely an Irvin one and the red or brown ones are mega rare.

Pete yes , Cinder/ash track , Remember in 1920s Hellaby would have only consisted of Hellaby hall , a couple of farms and a few houses on the main road , it only consists of one housing estate now , Speedway later on , OK an old workmate allways claimed he helped spanner for the Aurora team , but was also known to tell BIG storys , he will be 81 now and lives at Hellaby , when the lock down eases i'll try to look him up and see what he can remember , also i was asking a friend of mine who grew up in Hellaby , she says she used to baby sit for Trevor & wife , he lived on Bateman Rd for a short time , a bit useless information i know .

Lucky to have had original paint to match it to Nick, not sure how else we’d have got near it!

Funny the stuff that pops up on EBay. Amongst a collection of colour slides I found one with 110 NNM at the 1964 European Grand Prix at Brands Hatch. Just need to convert it to Jpeg properly along with a heap of others. On another subject after a request I put out on Facebook I’ve managed to locate a long range Ali tank of the type used in 1964/65, in fact another one popped up aswell but it’s a later and smaller version. Like waiting for a bus! Facebook isn’t everybody’s cup of tea but has proved very useful.

I need to find out who ran the car in the late 60s and in the Forward Trust special saloon championship in the 70s when it was this colour. Looks close to BL Bronze Yellow?

Ok well thanks to a very helpful chappy on here I’ve managed to source two nicely patina’d front seats of the type first fitted to 110 for the ‘64 race season, ie Microcell Contour 6s. In fact they were still in the car at the end of the 1965 season with Newtune. I’ve also got to sort these mag rose petals out. I’ve had them for a few years just waiting for the right car and so glad I didn’t get rid of them. They’re very good but due to the odd pitted sections probably not quite clean enough all over to get them back to exactly as original with polished outer rim and centres. I’ll probably have to use satin paint all over to get them back on the car.
I’ve restored Mag Minilites before myself and yeah the paint fell off after a few years but any specific advice gratefully recieved on restoring mags.
