'Sunbeam Rapier' on Monday 12th October at 8.40pm A European Holiday in the 1950s takes us on a car journey across Europe. A charming colour film where we travel in a Sunbeam Rapier. Look out for surprise appearances by some famous faces, including Stirling Moss.

'It Happened Today'on Tuesday 13th October at 6.30pm takes us back on the road. Made in 1947 by the West Riding Constabulary, this road safety film works hard to get its message home. It’s hard to believe now that the police would warn speeding motorists via a loudspeaker attached to their patrol car. Narration is by Talking Pictures favourite, actor Patrick Holt.

Bix Hill is near Henley on Thames was a favorite spot as it was easy to up your road speed & try to Ton-Up on the way down the Hill.. The Police had Austin Westminster or the like with a Speaker bolted onto the Front Bumper that they could shout at Speedy Drivers to stop .. this happened to a mate when driving his MGC .. i do not think he heard them 8-)

One of my favourite old British classic films 'Hell Drivers' (1957) is being shown on Talking Pictures TV today (Friday) at 5.50pm.

Five of the actors who play supporting roles in this film became well known in the 1960s for their roles in film and television: Sean Connery (Dr. No (1962)), Patrick McGoohan (Danger Man (1964)) and The Prisoner (1967)), William Hartnell (Doctor Who (1963)), David McCallum (The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1964)) and Sidney James (the "Carry On" films).

Girl on Approval (1961) - showing on Talking Pictures TV.
"GIRL ON APPROVAL is a timely British kitchen sink drama released during a wave of such films. These were typically stories involving working class families involved in situations that audiences could genuinely identify with. This one tackles the thorny subject of foster care and explores the arrival of a difficult teenage girl on a typical family."
https://www.reelstreets.com/films/girl-on-approval/

This Mk1 Mini features in the film a couple of times, at one point the driver and passenger are talking in the car while driving along but it is clearly not a Mini in any shape or form whatsoever that was used for the interior shots! It also changes from a Morris Mini-Minor to an Austin Seven with a different registration and roof rack later in the film....

Often happens to me if especially if I close my eyes during any adverts, so now I usually record so I can fast forward the adverts or go back if nodded off. Amazing sometimes you think you only closed your eyes for a couple of minutes then find you have missed an hour or more!
Talking Pictures films tend to be shown several times over a few weeks so should be able to catch up the missing bit ! I remember in the old days when we used to go to the cinema in the afternoon, if you came in late and missed the first part of the film you would stay seated at the end so as to see the beginning of the film in the next showing to get your money's worth. :D

Did you notice the scene where the driver and girl passenger are talking in the Mini while driving along but it is clearly not a Mini in any shape or form whatsoever that was used for the interior shots? Any idea what car was used for the odd/unusual looking interior shots?
