Rear Mirror on 1964 Monte Mini Cooper S 1071cc
Hello
Anyone know the rear view mirror model number used on the 1964 winning Monte Carlo Rally Car?
It looks barrel shaped?
Is it Lucas, Wingard or MG or something else.
Thanks David

I have seen an extra barnacle type mirror used, indeed we used one ourselves for a while. Could that be the sucker in this pic?
We also used to have larger 'over mirrors' that had springs to wrap around the original mirror. I may even still have some of these somewhere?

Some also wrapped the earlier mirror edges with plastic trim, but we all used the later mirrors anyway - for safety.AndyPen wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 10:51 am I have seen an extra barnacle type mirror used, indeed we used one ourselves for a while. Could that be the sucker in this pic?

Talking of mirrors what do we think this is? Aftermarket or off another car? (1964)

Peter it looks like a chrome version of this Eversure rear view mirror, but with the mirror turned upside down so it doesn’t obscure the drivers vision

Looks like an early mini "Jemca" mirror, they were just flat glass, so would have had the plastic edging fitted to protect the driver.

Probably an export spec mirror, Coopers for always had a framed mirror.

Blimey, that was a steal. I am currently watching an Inno Cooper mirror, and the chap wants 75€ minimum, plus loads of postage from Italy.Hipwell wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 10:44 am One here with correct stem.

Yes I am a nerd: I am researching the Austrian Mini-racing scene of the 60s and 70s
