ORANGEBOX POST LOCK DOWN UPDATE

A good while since an update on the Orangebox, lock down and furlough giving me plenty opportunity! After a couple of years since my third rebuild of it I decided it was too nice and shiny, so a refresher to make the car more back to how it has always been. My aim was to get the car back to how it was back in late 63, early 64,along with some of my ideas. So back to 7 inch brakes, last on the car in 2013, standard rims, Perspex windows etc. A modified van conversion rear seat, original van door liners, rubber matting. The engine is a mongrel, like the rest of the car, early 998 block, modified 997 crank, 7 spec rods and flat top 1098 pistons. Modified 295 head with OZ OAP springs, 1.3 rockers and billet cam etc, made a cracking engine, 79 bhp and nearly 70lb of torque!! Goes really well.

The other pic, I have on loan Roys trophies that he won with car, which include national rallies, the earliest a English Electric MC driving test meeting, run on the Oulton park club circuit in September 1962, and the latest, winning the Morecambe car club Highwayman rally in 1966. Over seventy in total. Oh, and the car has been ' blown' over in celly, that 2k was way too shiny!!

That celly is a perfect match for the road barrier. I like the style.

Just great, took some nerve to “ de-restore” it, but looks like you have nailed it :D

One of the joys, for me, is the the flatter paint and the smell of an old mini - paint looks great, the maybe the smell is a bit more difficult
