Now, could you just nip off and find footage of the Auto Point series when they used Mokes, Twinis, and reputedly an Ant ?

Having been involved in motorsport in Northern Ireland for more than 45 years if I had to single out one driver it would be Ronnie White. Ronnie’s achievements have to be recognised. Ronnie White throughout the sixties and seventies dominated Autocross, Rallycross, Sprints and Hillclimbs in Ireland.

Ronnie in person is a true gentleman who still loves motorsport with a passion. Ronnie White’s achievements and commitment to motorsport in Northern Ireland is without equal in my opinion.

Paddy Hopkirk 5 times Circuit of Ireland winner and 1964 Monte Carlo Rally winner and Alec Poole winning the 1969 1000 cc British Touring Car Championship are great achievements but it was always Ronnie White we wanted to beat in our Minis.

I never recall Ronnie racing the 4-wheel drive Clubman.

I'll second that sentiment.
From discussions I've had with Ronnie about the Clubman and it's use of Moke mechanicals, he really is a true gentleman and SO helpful.
Ronnie, if you're reading this I will take you up on your offer just as soon as I can get over!

Thanks for that Roger, what these three men in that photograph don’t know about Minis is not worth knowing. Then again between them there would be close to 150 years experience. I should say all three are gentlemen in my book

That was essentially the layout for the British 4WD Moke, and the Australian one too. The Ant system is very different indeed. When I get some time I'll take a pic of the entire drive-train without the casings to compare against this diagram. One thing to note on this scheme, is that they fitted the dog clutch on the rear diff pinion rather than the front one. Why? Less un-powered drag. The prop turns whether you're in 2WD or 4WD, but when in 2WD and the wheels have to power the prop at more than double axle rpm there is likelihood of the lightweight Moke losing traction on one or both rear wheels and initiating a skid. So on both Moke and Ant the prop clutches out on the rear diff and the prop is always powered from the front.

Some of you guys maybe interested to see a follow up on the Quadra that Jan posted the pics up of. It suffered a major failure a while ago and here is a link to the repair of the gearbox;-

The 4WD Mentioned here that I made a new Gearbox for, as mentioned elsewhere in this thread, was originally built by (Mad) Max Kinsmore in SA, he was at that time a member of our Club. As it stands today, this Moke - Quadra as the late Ross Perkins christen it when he bought it - is actually in it's 3rd major 'rebuild' form. Max rebuilt it once, then after selling it to his neighbor, Wolfgang, he rebuilt it again in to another body and it was from Wolfgang that Ross bought it.

Mark Radford of the MOA has recently put together a short (draft) video of this Moke in it's first guise ;-

Remember looking at the Rallycross 4wd Clubman it was shown at a Silverstone event ..me crawled under the 4wd Clubman just to see the "extra" rear drive shaft coming outward from the Gearbox Diff Housing
