That's how I read it. I assume the original purchaser chucked it back at him then?

Could this be referring to a previous thread that I can’t find now about a RARE MK1 mini won at auction that had a factory fitted MK2 rear window years before the MK2 came out! The buyer refused to go through with the sale .
[/quote]

To be fair the buyer didn’t sound like he could tell a Mk1 from a hole in the ground and has a reputation for arsing people about.

Bonhams have a varied selection of Minis coming up in their December 11th sale

Nicely restored Hydro GT with plenty of history should fetch good money

Barn Find single tank '66 S will get those wallets twitching. Also has famous first owner.

A couple of good original looking under bonnet shots in the auction blurb.

Madadash is it? I remember buying one for my Cooper about 50 years ago. It was a flimsy piece of rubbish really but I thought it was very cool at the time

Yes, I agree the car has been for sale for a while and has I think featured on here at least once.

I fancy the 'racing suit', the 'driving gloves' and maybe the nylon 'rally coat' from page 8 :geek:
Yes I am a nerd: I am researching the Austrian Mini-racing scene of the 60s and 70s :ugeek:

Mk1 S at 1:53:30, £28k. Not sure if this was accepted though, very cheap.
Mk1 Cooper at 41:20, £15k provisional.
Mk1 Cooper lhd at 2:54:00 , £15250 provisional.

Don't appear to be selling that well.

That takes me back to the early 1970s in Essex when local competitors started to wear the B&G overalls on road rallies. Just along the road was another motoring shop - I think West Essex Rally Spares - shop? I remember our local motor club commisioned "nylon" rally jackets and also door stickers like the Ford ones, white letters on black rectangular background! Teenage kicks.

Oooh, very nice. Wonder what it will make, 30k would be low for a Cooper S in this market.
Of course I know what a dipstick is, you get called something often enough you look it up!
