Shelsley Walsh Mini events 2021
Same weekend as MCR Beaulieu 12/13th June but Minis are invited to Shelsley Walsh to help celebrate 60 years of E-type and Mini Cooper, may include competitive runs. Check out the E-type club website for the event details. https://www.etype60.com Local regions of the MCR will be supporting the event. Might be an alternative to a long trip south to the New Forest? Perhaps a stop off on the Saturday.

Re: 12th/13th June 2021
There’s also going to be an even bigger Mini Cooper celebration at Shelsley’s Classic meeting on the 17/18th July with a huge Mini class competing, clubs, displays etc,

Perhaps this thread should be renamed Shelsley Walsh Mini events - June/July 2021.

Re: 12th/13th June 2021
I take your point .. I thought I’d book something next year to cheer myself up and I remembered the post, so I looked it up on Shelsley Walsh site and couldn’t find it but I saw the above and thought that must be it and booked accordingly. I only realised when I posted .. maybe I’ll do bothhanlminiman wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 5:09 pm Perhaps this thread should be renamed Shelsley Walsh Mini events - June/July 2021.

Re: 12th/13th June 2021
The really big one I'm working on will be a stand alone Mini event at Prescott later in the year to celebrate the 60th of the Cooper. Had a huge response to this idea on Facebook from all all the top Mini racers in the U.K. and Ireland , rally drivers, hillclimbers etc and Prescott are well up for so it looks like 2021 is gonna be a busy and fun year! Blyton in May, Yorkshire MF in June, Shelsley in (June and) July and Prescott in August (date to be confirmed) .

Re: Shelsley Walsh Mini events 2021
Pete.
Gemma Price is the new General Manager at Prescott and very enthisiastic. Ex WRC co driver as well. Prescott are looking to get back with the action. Gemma is ex VSCCC whose annual short and long events at Prescott have taken place in August & September. They are also looking at changin their events schedule from La Vie and the Autumn Classic. I'm sure at least 3 local regions of the MCR will support an event for MInis. Especially to celebrate 60 years of Mini Cooper

Re: Shelsley Walsh Mini events 2021
Well we did have the 14th August earmarked for the first Prescott Mini Festival, Mini World/ Castle Combe have however just announced the same weekend (both days) for their Mini Action event, usually September? . Would it be advisable to avoid a date clash? Not going to be easy as there’s so many events on the calendar.

Re: Shelsley Walsh Mini events 2021
Hi Pete
Hope your keeping free and safe from this dreadful virus.
I think 2021, if we are vaccinated, will be a very busy year for motoring events as show organisers try to get back in business and try to recoup their losses from the lower number of events in 2020. 2021 is the anniversary year for the E-type and also the Mini Cooper. Major players such as the 2 x MS part suppliers will probably have conflicts of interest. Action Day at Castle Combe has been an annual event supported by the Northern supplier for many years. Prescott will appeal to the hillclimbers not the polishers but might attract local enthisiasts. Prescott has planning restrictions on the number of events they can hold each year.
My suggestion is that the Mini event at Prescott is marketed widely early in the sporting press and also the mags as it might create a fit with the Castle Combe event which has traders but I don't think Prescott has that focus previously. Maybe use Matt Clarke's championship win at Prescott in 2020 for advertising the event.
Why not have a word with Bull Motif to see if they would support the Prescott event with a parts stand as they are just down the road.
Just thinking aloud as I think a lot of enthusiasts will support local events.

Re: Shelsley Walsh Mini events 2021
After twice being pulled up on noise at Castle Combe when my 998 was noticeably quieter than anyone else I vowed not to go there again so Prescott for me.

Re: Shelsley Walsh Mini events 2021
i wouldnt even contemplate Combe, and i think the two events draw a slightly different crowd.

Re: Shelsley Walsh Mini events 2021
I agree with other comments that I doubt, other than trade, that the events draw the same crowd. I’ve had a huge response from historic racers and rally drivers not to mention hillclimbers who I’m sure don’t do Combe either. I’ve also just heard that the Brands Mini Fest is the week after Combe, so that’s two dates we had earmarked now looking unlikely. Maybe the 7th August is a possibility but that’s only a week after the Silverstone Classic.

Looking at either May 22/23rd now or July 18th for Prescott event. Bloody nightmare!
