Surely you've all got better things to do, than read Goodugg01's posts. Heres a tip just don't bother reading 'em, discussing them is even worse. Your just all falling into the advertising trap........
Another point would be if marks got access to a computer and the web, he should be able to login from where ever he is and sort it out, me thinks he's forgotten about all the hassle and is just enjoying himself. Surely you can all ignore him for a week or two ;)

I've got plenty of things to do :) , and I like the way that the forum is run by one person, who treats us all like adults, I'm sure once Mark is back he will sort out the spam, and consider signing over control when he's away next time, Surf or Guru would do a good job :) , perhaps Mark will set up a poll so we can have a X factor style vote :P

I do not read Goodugg01's posts, obviously I looked at the first one, thinking it was a genuine post, but I've seen all this before on BBMF's guestbook, & I was willing to put my name forward in the future when I am a more experienced member, to try & stop this kind of thing at such times when Mark is not available. I don't think any of us fall into any advertising trap, who would buy anything from that kind of person? Just for the record, going back to your previous post, I do not appreciate being classed as a 'little hitler' who knows 'fook all' just for offering my services in the future, if required, for the greater good of the forum. I could go on TMF if I wanted to hear that kind of thing.

It's up to Mark of course, but many other forums have more than one moderator to d/w the day-to-day running of the site, spread the workload, which can be quite significant, etc. ;)

Goodugg01 is a minor distraction but what if there was a bigger problem with the site and there was no one to fix it until he came back?

...might get a bit more done on the car though!

That was a general term, referring to the mods on other forums, if your gonna hope to be a moderator you need to be able to distinguish between the two............

I don't think this forum's ever needed moderating as there aren't anywhere near enough reprobates here to cause any kind of bun fight (or any "little hitlers" either for that matter !??), hence the reason most of us use this forum in the first place. I'm sure Mark will clear all the spam out when he gets back.

As part of the moderating team on another couple of forums I would say its vital to have two or three people to share the workload. On one site we recently had a lot of spam posts and the site 'admin' dealt with the techy side of stuff while the mod team simply deleted threads and posts as they appeared, apart from spam posts/replies which were reported I'm sure many users never realised as only those with moderator status could see the editing / tidying up going on.

I don't know mark to the extent of many on here but reckon he's going to be pretty dispondant at the state of the forum when he returns, especially after recent issues.

Who says I can't? I have experienced moderators on other forums, some are good, some not, but if you knew me, you would know I am not like them, you make too many assumptions & generalisations, it's not a case of 'hoping' to be a moderator, I just offered my services at some time in the future, if there was no one better qualified to do it. I'd rather stick to the technical stuff, I spend enough of my working life sorting out trouble makers.

Goodugg01 is no more.

He is an ex member & has ceased to be.

If anyone spots any other spam that I miss, please can they let me know.

If anyone else would be interested in becoming a moderator, I would be pleased to hear from them. I will still have to work out how to make them so first though.
