Right then. The bottom pulley is fitted. Seems a bit of a faff until you remember it’s a mini not the vee dub and just accept that the engine mounts coming out etc etc.

So the bottom pulley is fitted...

That gave me a datum for the top, and a measure on the belts. So we have two 1050mm a belts on order.

Going up the top then. The mini manifold is the right shape.

Dropping it on the freeflow shows the issue, it’s just too much of an intersection between the freeflow and the cast manifold.

I think I’ll bell maniflow tomoz and see if we can get a steel version of the manifold made, or possibly that the lcb drops down faster so we’d have much less to cut out the cast manifold so it has half a chance it will survive. FWIW this is one a mate has been doing to get to clear

Shots from a mate - mk1 cast manifold trimmed to clear a freeflow. The problem is perhaps apparent...

Hmm bought a lathe and built a steam engine. I do get distracted sometimes.
Tommorow a box of goodies from maniflow should arrive. A fabricated steel inlet and a custom lcb centre pipe to help clear. That should get us fitted and flowing well...

Issigonis was working on a steam mini in the early '70s. Time to take up the reins and finish it off?
