I always painted the Wheels in 2k black. The hornpush can be polished quite good.

You can push the middle out from behind

Too busy to Mini again this week, but did get 5 mins to have a play with some Wrinkle finish paint!
Quite pleased with the end results

How many layers did you made before you make the paint wrinkle?

I warmed the parts up first with a heat gun.
Then pretty much as per instructions - one fairly heavy coat,
let it sit for five mins, flashed over it with the heat gun
until it just started to wrinkle, let it sit for five mins ,then on with a second coat (not too heavy) flashed with the heat gun again until it reacted. Sat five mins again and then on with the final coat. Let that sit for five mins and then I gave it a
gentle bit of heat until it started wrinkling again, and
then walked away!
Really very please with how it’s come out!

My answer:

The ring is made from metal so it will not break.
Just put your fingernails (if you have some left) and pull it out. Because of the dirt it my need some fores but it will.

I’ve got some hard plastic trim wedges, so I will give it a go!
Is it just like an interference fit, or are there perhaps tangs bent over on the back of the ring?
Just don’t want to break anything if I can help it!!

Thats Thirty years of “Patina” / pure FILTH!!!

Pulled it apart to give it a preliminary clean

Not bad, but not happy with the chrome.

And the paint on the ring behind the glass is flaking.
What colour is it meant to be?
When it’s out it looked almost a really dark purple/maroon colour, but is it just meant to be matte black??
