1275 GT built for the Sherry Rally, 23-25 September 70 and never used by the works team.
Like YMO886J, it was built by the Competition Department and entered by them as part of a three car team. Works crews were Hopkirk/Nash(?) and Culcheth/Syer(?). The third car was Will Sparrow's own with Nigel Reaburn. All entered in Group 6. In recent years Raeburn has confirmed their third car was works-entered.
The crews undertook their recce and were featured on Spanish TV. BBC Wheelbase (predecessor of Top Gear) were to cover the event in detail and had provided some of the expenses for the team. The Sherry Rally offered good deals to private entrants and no doubt more to a works team. The entry was cancelled under the direct instructions of Donald Stokes and the closure of the Competitions Department on 1.10.70. announced.
