Hi guys,

After several discussions with CCA they are still adamant that ATW359A is a 'really special thing' and a 'genuine car'. However, as we all know that this is a load of rubbish. The expect full payment from me which I have disputed and left in the hands of my hard working legal team. Myself and my legal team have contacted several classic car experts and classic Mini specialists which have confirmed that ATW359A is not a genuine MK1 Austin Mini. There are several issues with the car as of which some of them have been spotted by you guys. With all the evidence that I have gathered against CCA I am in a strong position to fight this in court if it comes that.

I am extremely disappointed with the level of customer care from CCA considering I have been buying and selling with them for years. They certainly won't be getting anymore business from me!

Anyway, I will keep you all informed.

I don’t know the car nor the seller Sam but to be fair to the auction house if you bid on a car that you haven’t viewed personally or you don’t really understand what you’re looking at but bid on it and win the auction you can’t really complain. If you don’t understand the cars it’s best to get someone who does to run their eye over it before you buy it, not really much point to do it after you’ve bought it. The auctioneers aren’t classic car historians, they can only publish the descriptions they’re issued by the vendor and unless it’s described as something blatantly obviously different than the photos there’s little they can do. The onus is on you as the buyer to do your homework. Anecdotes like this only give one side of a story and for every rogue trader (and there’s a few about) there’s also the nightmare purchasers who mess sellers around, don’t turn up for appointments or blame everybody but themself when it goes wrong. The phrase that pays is Caveat emptor!! AND ‘Caveat venditor’ is just as valid!

A lot has been said about my 1962 Austin Seven that in January 1962 the Austin and Morris was dropped in favour of the “ MINI “ and since mine was registered in May 1962 it must be a Mini .
But it was sold with Austin Mini and Austin bonnet Badge
Further more a 1963 Austin Mini was sold at auction and on YouTube there is a 1965 Morris Mini Purchased from new
So what is the historical truth on this subject

I dont think anyone was picking on you at all, certainly not intentionally, I doubt if anyone even knew who the seller was.

For many people on this forum, originality or accurate description of any mini, whether for sale or not, is every thing, it is their passion, their interest.

This is the same for antique furniture, artworks, thimble collecting, any subject In fact which involves collecting or collectors.

Their will always be debates about anything that is shown ir in the market, especially if it doesn't quite fit the description or has a flowery description.....especially if the description doesn't address obvious questions that may arise....

The only way to avoid debate and discussion is not to put your mini or what ever in the public domain....

I know I am always waving my shroud & predicting a terrible crash in prices, but on a more cheery note. My Brother sold a classic Porsche this week & had an independent assessor come round to view it for the buyer. In conversation the assessor said that the last 2 months were the busiest that they had ever been.

Looks like all those middle aged blokes on furlough have been cruising car & Classic!

Probably explains why some of the cars that have been advertised for a while have suddenly gained a few extra grand on their original asking prices, I've noticed a few like this on carandclassic this week, all sorts, not just Minis.

You don't see many Minis turn up in Art sales, but Sworders of Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex have this restored Cherry Red 1960 Morris for sale on the 8th September. Comes with some history and pictures showing the restoration
