Seatbelt question

Hi all,
My 1960 shell has absolutely no provisions for seatbelts.
I’m replacing the floor (has the lower mount fitted) also replacing rear compartment bins so will have the seatbelt points there too. What are my options for mounting on the top of the b post? I believe some early cars had a long chrome bolt drilled completely through? Or is there a better way?

If you are doing a lot of welding it may be possible to put a large insert in from the outside of the B post, weld it in place then close the hole up on the outside. OK, Its a lot of buggering about, but I can't think of any otehr way to fit a B pillar mount safely.

Your other option is to use competition type harnesses that mount elsewhere.

DO NOT Be tempted to use Nutserts or similar! In the event of an accident, these are likely to pull straight out.

Super60.. point to note for your conversion .. that the early cars that did have top seat belt mounts factory fitted in the B Post.. the position of these captive nuts were located higher up than later produced cars .
Experts will be able to inform when these changes were made

If you are fitting a complete new floor from M Machine they will fit both lower belt mountings if you ask them.

I fitted a high up mounting for a belt by dropping a re enforced plate down from the top of the B pillar. Using a seat belt bolt a bolt and washer to hold it then spot mig the plate in position. It won't be the most comfortable belt but that's where BMC fitted them at one point.
