Ignition Barrel Change.

Post by InimiaD »

Well, I've been beaten on this one.
I need to swop an Ignition Barrel into a new switch. I think it's a 31973 type for a MK1 67 car.
I'm sure one of you learned folk have the knowledge as to how this simple task is carried out.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi,

There is a hole in the side of the switch housing. Look through the hole, there is a sprung loaded brass pin in the end of the barrel. Push this pin down & extract the barrel. Easy when you know how ;)

Thanks Mike.
I've been poking that hole and obviously I didn't quite hit the spot. I must try harder. ;)

Don't you need to have the key in the lock as well.
