I bought swiftune caps to have my 1460 line bored, but the metal was too hard to bore, so had to use MED caps

£260 for a skilled worker to carry out machining on specialist equipment is peanuts.

This cannot be right? They're steel, not diamonds.....

Does the £260 include sorting out the thrust faces ?
Line boring is one thing, but not everyone can do the thrusts...

I had assumed so, bit pointless otherwise, but really need to confirm that

The second bit of my reply got eaten.

I'm wondering of some of the lower prices are just for boring the Mains without touching the thrusts. My machine shop couldn't do the MED thrusts as their line-borer was mainly for white metal bearings and wasn't happy doing the faces. They've recently bought a new one so I'm hopeful.
