Re: My Clubman
Is it the DeWalt chop saw stand?
The grill has a GT badge on it but the grill is not from a GT. The centre bars on the early GTs were black.
The body does not look like a GT either, there are no holes in the RH inner wing for the brake servo.
It is an early one but not 1969, the bonnet has the stay on the LHS and the hinges are the most common vertical stud and nut not the rare horizontal bolt.
As it has the id plates on a quick check would tell you. Vin would begin XAD2 and the Commision would begin S20D.
Looks like it was originally Bronze Yellow.

Re: My Clubman
Is that not the wrong way round? The horizontal fastening, with the stud captive in the hinge, are the later, common type.smithyrc30 wrote:..the hinges are the most common vertical stud and nut not the rare horizontal bolt

Re: My Clubman
Sorry perhaps I should have been clearer. The joint in the common type is vertical, the joint in the rare type is horizontalGraemeC wrote:Is that not the wrong way round? Re: My Clubman
Really? Surely this is the common type, with the studs horizontal:

Yep that is what I said, the joint is vertical in the later clubman. The joint is horizontal in the early (rare) one.GraemeC wrote:Really? Surely this is the common type, with the studs horizontal:

Anyway, Vegard what is the exciting part of the clubman please?

That wasn't what you said
The LH bonnet stay was the most exiting, by not as exiting after all, now it seems...

Re: My Clubman
Hi roger, best of luck with your project, wish I had your enthusiasm for cars,I worked on them all my working life ,I would rather have my bikes,my grandson and me have fourteen bikes all needing work,we are preparing a GSX R 600 for track days at the moment,he has a 899 ducati panagali on the road, anyway that's enough about me,just hope we can keep going long enough to finish our projects, all the best Colin a.
